Windows 7 vs. FireFox

This may not be a specifically Win 7 problem, but among our computers it is only the Win 7 machine that is having this problem. It is intermittent. Starting FF results in a process I can see in Task Manager, but no window appears. I have already tried starting FF as administrator & in safe mode with the same results.

Anybody experience the same & find a solutiuon?

I use W7 and FF with no problem, have you tried reinstalling FF and or using something like Ccleaner

OOPS! This isn't the Win 7 machine. Sorry, the problem appears in our Vista Home Premium system. It's SP2. I'm also having other problems on the Win 7 that are irrelevant. (I mean, it's M$, so saying we're having problems is redundant.)

Yep, I've completely reinstalled, incl. UNinstalling 1st & trying to clean out vestiges of FF from the registry. Also updated to latest version. Others have reported similar FF problem in other places on the Web, but I've not found a real solution. I thought perhaps this forum might have a clue to something new.

Never used Ccleaner. Is it trustworthy? I am loath to load yet another magical cure for Windows woes that sits in the background & does who knows what to my system.

If I ever find out the cause, I'll report it here.

Crap cleaner does not "sit in the back ground" unless they have recently made it into a compleley different animal. It only runs when you instruct it to do so.

And what is that process - plugin-container.exe perhaps? If so, you can easily disable it from about:config (dom.ipc.plugins.enabled = false).

Regarding CCleaner - it is probably the most trustworthy freeware application in the whole computerworld. However, it is not a "magical cure"; it just cleans whatever you instruct it to.
