The installed program cannot start.

I downloaded the latest AVG download after my norton ran out like a fool, and when I turn my laptop on now it says after window is loading files 'The installed rogram cannot start. Click OK to turn off the computer' and I don't know if I should take it to a shop and get them to sort it but some advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi,Saike88.

Did you uninstall Norton before installing AVG?

Reboot and and press F8 at startup.

Select Safe Mode With Command Prompt.

Type chkdsk and hit enter.This will check your HD for errors and hopefully fix this issue.

If this does't work,there are other avenues to correct this.

Keep us updated if you will.

I press f8 after turning my laptop on and nothin seems to happen which is very annoying and it just runs through the windows loading files then comes bk up with the same box... it seems like I should take it somwhere and have them check it out

Do you perhaps have on hand any previously created repair or backup media?A Windows install or upgrade disk?

If you are uncomfortable fiddlin' with your machine,then by all means have a techie check it out.If it is under warranty the hardware should be covered.A software issue may be another story.

If you wish to fiddle around a little,keep the thread updated.;)

Some computers use a different function key (F2, F5, Esc, ...) to display the boot menu; check the manual that came with your computer.

Also, that function key must be tapped (repeatedly) as soon as the computer starts - before Windows starts loading.
