get rid of pop up asking me to add IE 8

I am running Internet Explorer 7. I don't want 8. Almost every time I connnect to the Internet, I get a popup telling me to get IE 8 (Welcome to Internet Explorer 8). I can click on "Ask Me Later" and get rid of it, but I don't want to be asked later. I just want it gone forever. Is there a way to make this happen? Thanks.

click on the shield and somewhere there is the option to not be reminded about the update as I have done

I was wrong, you need to right click the update and are then given the option to hide it in W7

That will work, but the reality is you should update your browser. IE8 is more secure than IE7 and part of good discipline in practicing safe computing is keeping our systems updated with the latest, most secure versions of the programs we use - including, perhaps especially so, the browser.
