No ipv4 and ipv6 internet connection

Hi,

I have a HP Mini 1000, it was running windows starter and connected wirelessly to my router no problem. I have now upgraded to windows 7 professional and after a windows update the wireless connection still connects to the router but has no internet access. This is the same if i connect wired directly to the router. When i click on internet explorer a "no internet access " message appears i click "diagnose" and it says that everything is fine.

If i check the network adapter status it says ipv4 and ipv6 no internet access. I've been searching on the web for a couple of days now and have had no joy. Was wondering if anyone could help.

Whats funny is that windows update can still download updates and i can ping everything. I havent installed any firewalls, there is only the windows one.

Have you tried installing another browser e.g. Firefox (download the installer http://www.mozilla-europe.org/en/firefox/ to your working PC and copy it via USB stick to the HP Mini) to see if that works ?

Check if the drivers for the network card are installed and working properly on the laptop. All the devices which are connected to the computer, require a set of drivers to be installed on the computer. If the appropriate drivers are not installed on the computer, the device will not work properly. Go to device manager and highlight the network adapter. See if there are any caution signs. Follow the troubleshooting procedure or update the drivers which are installed.

First have you checked to see if the router needs any type of updates?

I do not know what you have or have not attempted to rectify this.I will throw a couple of suggestions your way anyhow.

Check your internet adaptor settings to make sure IPv4/6 are not disabled.You can manually enter an address to connect to for a troubleshooting exercise by highlighting and selecting properties.

Open the Tools tab on IE and select Internet Options.Select Connections tab then the button LAN settings.Check to make sure that all is configured as you wish.There is also an Advavanced tab in the same window.There is a button (Reset...) in this section to Reset IE's settings to their default conditions.There is a warning that this option is to only be used if the browser is in an unusable state....

You could try System Restore to a previous time.

Or use a previously created Image Backup to recover your machine to acceptable behaviour.

Possibly roll back the network adaptor through Device Manager.

Maybe uninstall the offensive updates.

You could also run chkdsk or sfc /scannow to check the Windows disk for errors and check sytstem files respectively.

Have a go at disbaling and then enabling the wireless adapter in control panel > Network and Internet >Network and Sharing Centre > Change adaptor settings.

also from command prompt > ipconfig /release

> ipconfig /renew
