krigger Posted December 12, 2010 Report Share Posted December 12, 2010 Window 7 is new to me. I was in firefox and wanted to send a link to a friend. My primary email account is in yahoo. When I selected "send link" the Windows Live Mail opened instead. It seemed like a good idea at the time, to link all my accounts in one place. What a mistake. It moved all my inbox messages but not any others. I had 369 messages in my yahoo inbox that are all gone. Not quite gone, since they are in Windows Live Mail. But I need to get to some of these when I'm at work on yahoo. It didn't transfer my contact list out of yahoo, either. How can I disable Windows Live Mail and just go back to yahoo? Irene Posted December 12, 2010 Report Share Posted December 12, 2010 I personally don't use Windows Live Mail, but I just found the following which might help...Open up Windows Live Mail, Click on the Help Tab, Type "Uninstall Windows Live Mail" in the search box. A screen will come up - click on "Uninstall Windows Live Mail" and follow the directionsBTW: I believe you can import/export emails in Yahoo - maybe you could get them back that way before you disable Windows Live. krigger Posted December 15, 2010 Author Report Share Posted December 15, 2010 I couldn't figure out how to get my yahoo stuff back to my yahoo account outside of Live Mail. But I was able to move the yahoo inbox contents to the hotmail inbox in Windows Live Mail. Closed Live Mail and opened MSN. Since it's Microsoft, my hotmail inbox had all the contents from yahoo that I moved into it. Since I'm pretty new at this, I probably went about it this the hard way. I forwarded all the messages back to my yahoo address. The drawback is that all the messages are now from me and not th4e original sender. Halfway through, hotmail locked me out, claiming I was spamming. Had to get a code to unlock the account and finish the transfers. Once I was sure I had everything, I uninstalled Live Mail. DO NOT open Live Mail before uninstalling, as it will update itself and xfer everything back from yahoo. Like I said, I probably went about this the hard way, but it ultimately got the job done.
