I need a program that changes a VLC format to a Windows Media format

[I am lost]

I have movies in my document section of my computer that are formatted in VLC,but I need to change them to a Windows Media format. After this is done I will burn them onto a DVD so I can view them on my DVD player which will play a windows media format,but not a VLC format.

My computer is running on windows Vista and I am looking for a FREE PROGRAM that can be trusted to download.

AvyVideoConverter has converted everything I have thrown at it(Browse configurattion settings in user interface).It doesn't burn the disk,though.Maybe the paid version does.

the program seems to be working,but what do I set my frame size to? being each movie has a different size? I noticed there is an original choice, should I use that? Other thing,it has a field for biterate. What do I set that at?

Right-click the original video file.

Select Properties.

Select the Details tab.

With AVC you want to get the details as close as possible to the original.

The Data Rate under Video and the Bit rate under Audio equals Total bitrate.

To get the best output for a video file,you'll have to just experiment until you get a suitable product.

Windows likes an audio bit rate around 128.

Keep the frame rate the same.

Thanks for the information,but I have a questions about the programs video output. Among the list of frame sizes there is an original choice. If I set it for the original will the proram set it for what the original frame size was that it was recorded on (the VLC format) before?

Original is the source file.Be it VLC(Whatever format it was converted/recorded as),.AVI,etc.,ad nauseum.

I most always choose original frame size.And frame rate if possible.

For a free program it's not that shabby.There are quite a few others you could try out.

It will convert the file to DVD format,but not burn.

To save on extra software, VLC media player will actually allow transcoding.
