Blabbermouth
Hi everyone I'm trying to print a service sheet for a wedding. It has borders surrounding the edges on A4, My problem is that the borders look like they have even distance on the screen, top, bottom and sides, but when I look at the printed copy it has 2cm white edges on the left and right sides. The settings say that it printing for A4Help would be much appreciated Thanks John
MANEMAN
Hi Blabbermouth. First let me say that up to and beyond 1,001 on-line services are probably going to do a better job, and at a cheaper price than you are going to do it at home. It's a wedding! - Any signs of a amateurish efforts are going to be remembered and talked about for many years. If the rest of the wedding, (Photography, Catering, Food, Flowers, etc, are up to professional level and your efforts are crap.................You will be remembered for many years ! Even if you are the Groom, or even the Best man. - Be warned !Family feuds are started at weddings and funerals over far simpler things than printing errors, and can last for many years. We cannot advise properly without seeing graphical evidence of your efforts. We would need "Screenshots" or "Screencasts" of what you have done , and what you are doing.Even then we may head you back to "Word Tutorials" for more learning, and even better guidance than we could give.(1) - Check out your Word 2010 tutorials to make sure that you have understood the correct procedures.(2) - Limiting yourself to "Word" alone is "Limiting" - Forgive the pun.(3) - If time allows, experiment by printing what is seen on-screen, and what actually comes out of the printer............ Many times perhaps. ( This is the stage where you find that because of the time spent, and cartridge ink used, that on-line services are actually cheaper.)Best advice........ Ship it out to one of the many on-line printers. It's a buyers market in your scenario at the moment.John.
rong
If it's not printing what you have on the screen then I would check the printer set up, e.g. is the printer set to border-less printing and or anything else that might affect it
-pops-
Apart from any other difficulties, are you sure that A4 size would create the right impression for a wedding service sheet? The previous respondents are so right in their comments, especially in regard to amateurish or home made attempts at almost anything to do with weddings - printing, DIY wedding dresses, self catering and so on.If you must do your own printing, it would be much better to use a DTP program - MS Word is far from being ideal. AlanHo
Why not print all the sheets off, then take your kitchen scissors and cut them to a smaller size around the printed border to get equal margins at each edge. It does not matter that this will produce a home made appearance - people will appreciate the trouble you have gone to and that the young couple appreciate the virues of being frugal.I recognise that this idea will not be practical if you have thousands coming to the wedding your highness......................
