johnoo
I have noted today that this update that was automatically sent on the 10th February failed. The error code was 0x8007foda.Should I be concerned?Has it now been superceded with another version? If not should I/how do I install? johnoo
Irene thanks, I decided to try to reinstall KB2478960, but got the message "Version of Windows installed does not match the update trying to install"I have got Service ppack 3 installed and I think this mod relates to Service pack 2 versions.Think this leads to further questions1 Am I correct about it being for Service Pack 2 only?2 Why did it try to be installed and fail in the fist instance? I would have thought there would be some blockHope somebody can help, as I am still concerned
andsome
I would do a system restore, and see what happens after that.:)
ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
1 Am I correct about it being for Service Pack 2 only? No, this update is for Windows XP with Service Pack 3 only. See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/24789602 Why did it try to be installed and fail in the fist instance? I would have thought there would be some blockThe link in Irene's earlier post should give you some info on why it failed. You can try to download the update for Windows XP SP3 from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?familyid=541F228F-79B3-402A-8FF9-366C1E595227
johnoo
Thanks Ansome & Pat.Activated the link Pat gave for KB2478960 SP3.M/c went through the installation process, then gave message " Successfully completed KB2478960 Setup"I did a restartAfter this looked on Control Panel and only the original Failed entry is showing for KB2478960.But, KB890830, which is the latest Malware removal tool has been installed. When I check with Microsoft if any updates are outstanding I am told "System is up to date"Do I just relax and forget it? Irene
My personal feeling would be that if Microsoft Updates thinks that your system is up to date, all should be OK. :)
