There is just one upgrade that I plan, and that is from 512 DDR to 1024DDR. I make all my own greetings cards, and also print my didital photo's, a little more speed would not go amiss here. Artist is the only one that picked up on the fact that the PC is an interactive device. When was the last time you interacted with your motherboard?The mouse, you hold it all the time you are on your pc, the keyboards - how many people have a decent keyboard - and most of all the monitor, this is the most used part of the pc, you stare at it all the time you are using - surely this deserves the most care and attention when purchasing???? doug Posted September 21, 2003 Report Share Posted September 21, 2003 Have to disagree with artist. Itis possible to comunicate with a computer without a monitor. When I first did a course on computer programming down in Dorset in 196//70/'s it was at at the municipal ICL 1900 series local council unit at dorchester/ I think. anyway in those days there wern't any monitors everything was via line printers. We were doing Fortran II and had to format the out put. Programming was by IBM punched cards. Which had to be verifieed by getting 2 operators to punch separate cards which one had to do a comparison by putting each matching pait together an holding uo to the light and making sure all the holes were in the same place. This was before the advent of paper tape. I produced a very elegant program for some maths program that I wanted evaluating. Un fortunately when it came to the output to the line printer I set the printer into an endless loop without a natural break point. When the computer reached the output stage it hit this loop and blank pages suddenly started to spew out at a great of knots. because the printer bars didn't have to do anything this printer spewed the paper at a record rate. Paper strewed across the computer room. A whole fresh bov of line printer paper was spread across the room. It was only when the box was empty that the out of paper was detected an the computer shut down. It was actually time sharing with the program producing the latest rates demand at the time. This had unfortunate consequences. I was not a very popular bunny with the then IT department.Just remenissing but it just goes to show that a monitor is not essential but damned handy. :D Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
