gmcne71933
I was using the calendar gadget that came installed with my Win 7 Home Prem 64 bit ver. A couple of days it went totally blank. I did a google search and found several "fixes". I tried them all. Nothing helped. I even tried downloading other gadget calendar versions. Same thing. Anything having to do with calendar dates is totally blank.
-pops-
Is the time and date set correctly on the machine?
gmcne71933
yes, date is set correctly. All other gadgets work fine. Only a "calendar" does not work correctly. I downloaded 6 others from the Microsoft site and get the exact same results with each. I click add and the orange folder appears on the desktop. I click enlarge and it expands to show the orange and white folders. Totally blank, no dates or anything. -pops-
As this effect is happening with several different programs, I can only think it is something to do with the time/calendar settings in the computerIf you feel safe entering the BIOS of the machine, check that the BIOS clock is set to the correct time and date - this is not necessarily the same as the displayed time you normally see on screen. gmcne71933
Bios date and time match the time I see down in the task bar on the right bottom corner of my computer.
-pops-
Well, I'm stuck - apart from doing a System Restore or a restore from your backup to a time before this happened but I am somewhat doubtful that would work. Worth a try, though.

gmcne71933
I am still working on this. At someone's suggestion I established a new user account. First time I opened it up the calendar came up and worked fine. Just to check, I shut down and restarted....yep......same old thing. Won't work. I suspect the culprit is one of several updates installed on June 16 (about the time the calendar failed). Now my question is, can I delete all those updates (maybe one at a time)to see if one of them caused my problem?
-pops-
Interesting development! It isn't advisable to just delete updates. Far better, if you can, would be to do a System Restore to a time before this happened and then manually install the updates individually, checking after each one.It could be a "blip" in the install of one of the updates - which would be why nobody else seems to be commenting on it. gmcne71933
I have been told the systems.ini file for "calander" is coruppt and given what is supposed to be the correct entries. How do I get to the needed ini files in Windows 7. I have searched all over but can't find them. Just when I was beginning to like Windows 7. -pops-
System Restore (as suggested earlier) is the effective way to revert to an earlier date on your machine.Other than that see: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/3413-repair-install.html
bludgard
Excuse me for interrupting, gentlemen, but sfc /scannow (with install media connected) may help. I have never heard of this calendar issue, so with this I shall exit the stage. Toodles

Boris
If Windows thinks that everything is okay you should get the message "Windows resource protection did not find any integrity violations" after the scan.
-pops-
Did you try my suggestions offered in post #11 (above)?
bludgard
If you have tried System Restore, re-imaging the HDD, and have hit a wall; I would suggest a reinstall of Windows after imaging the HDD (you never know, you may find the answer and want to pick up where you left off). Can you double click the time gadget in the notification area and up pops (no pun intended) a calendar?Ok. If all else fails, you might find your answer somewhere within this thread.Welcome to Windows Forum, gmcne71933. Cheers:D
gmcne71933
I've tried all the suggestions found here, google and forums found on windows live nail. None of them solved the problem. I can live without the "calendar" so think I'll just give it up for now. Thanks for all inputs. You're all a very knowledgeable and helpful group of people. You may see me later. thanks again. :D
