pawz7
Does anyone remember a software program called Directory Opus? I think I used to with an Amiga but I believe it works on PC's as well. Anyway, I am looking for a decent file manager for W7. I like W7 a lot but being gently confused with the way it combines files from more than one source I have found I have saved stuff to C: when I really meant to put on H:. I have now to sort out what I want where, and there is a lot to go through as there are folders within folders which I want to organise and compare. I am sure I will get used to it but for now I want something that will allow me to open two folders and drag stuff from one to the other. I have got two windows stacked next to each other in W7 but can't get it to view both folder contents at the same time. I am probably doing something wrong, but a sudden hankering for Directory Opus or similar has resulted. Just thought I would ask.

I have used this feature to open, compare, and drag and drop between open windows. It may be that I do not understand what it is you are trying to accomplish? pawz7
I have tried FreeCommander, and it did the job fine (happy sigh), but when I went to park it on the Tools drive where I keep tools and setups,I found I already had another similar uitility called A43 File Management tucked away and which, although a few years old now, is still up to the job. So now I got two :) I guess that was/is free as well.

Right, I see what Snap does, and that is useful, but I could not get it to open the SAME folder in two different windows, which is where the file manager comes in :)Hi bludgard.. vot is zees 'snap'? I shall have to explore this further. Thank you for drawing my attention to it, I shall go see :)
