All the more reason for NEVER buying a commercially produced computer. I don't fancy building one myself as I have no one to fall back on should I get into trouble. I always have one built by a local shop. First I discuss with them what the spec should be to suit my requirements. Then I insist on an installation disc being supplied, and always have two internal hard drives. NO SOFTWARE other than the operating system is installed, I then decide what I want to install myself. I always make a back up using ACRONIS ready for any problems. Even then, as a last resort should I really foul up I have my mirror image to fall back on.

Good point handsome. That is one of the reasons when I used PC's I built the last two myself. Never had any problems with them and like you I also used Acronis to make a mirror image just in case of my C drive failed and had to replaced or a 'Bug" managed to find itself onto the drive. That said, I never had any problems apart from a drive failure.

It's not very heartening to know that a new computer that you are buying over the counter for your kid's Christmas or Birthday present may have bugs already on it. A lot of people that are quite not as Computer savvy as people on this Forum may find that article educational.
