Clear Your Clipboard

When cutting, copying and pasting text, files and images these items are stored on your clipboard and therefore in your computers memory and there they stay until the clipboard is cleared. This can be a problem if you are cutting and pasting large files like video or if your system has low memory.

To clear the clipboard and free up any memory that is being taken up just open a new notepad document and press the space bar. Highlight the space and click on the Edit menu, then select copy. Now your clipboard has been cleared.

Alternatively you can download Clipclear and clear your clipboard in one click. :)

Scroll to the bottom to find the Clipclear utility.

You have to add Clip viewer to XP.

To install the ClipBoard Viewer, right-click Start, select Properties, select Classic Start Menu, Customize, Add, Browse, C: drive, expand the tree by clicking the plus signs to Windows, System32, select clipbrd (or clipbrd.exe, depending on your folder View settings), OK, Next >, select Accessories (or wherever you want it), Next >, enter ClipBook Viewer in the text box below where it says Type a name for this shortcut, (should do it for you) Finish,

Not having a pop at you, Nel or claiming precedence. I just remembered about the old thread and linked to it to show anyone who was interested how you could put a clipboard shortcut on the desktop in XP. Also, Mark2 contributed useful information. I agree, it does no harm at all to point out information which may be old news to some. I learn all of my little tips and tricks from others, and pass them on in turn. It's what forums like this are all about. ;)
