Syder
Attempted to update to 8.1 yesterday and the store just won't open. Every time I click on the Store tile it doesn't get past the green introductory screen before just disappearing (crashing).. Have restarted several times and used the link-through on the Windows 8.1 site. Also, I have since discovered that all apps won't open either (such as news and sports).. Any help? Alan2273
Try this then. Press Windows Key + C and open the Charms Bar.Click 'Search'Type in 'CMW'.On the search results, you will see the 'Command Prompt'. Right click it and select 'Run as Administrator'.Now you will have a Command Processor with elevated rights. In the Command Prompt, type in:net stop wuauservThis commands should return 'Windows Update Service stopped successfully'.Now again type in:rename %windows%\softwaredistribution softwaredistribution.oldThis commands forces your system to rename your SoftwareDistribution folder. Windows will automatically create an another one in the next boot. And now we have to restart the Windows Update Service, so type in this:net start wuauservThis command should return ' Windows Update Service started successfully'.Now open your Windows Store and check it again. -pops-
Windows 8.1 has been withdrawn by Microsoft. It's like the old days with MS - launch one day, withdraw the next.
