Thanks Oracle. Was looking around for an intro but you've posted a start. The sets that I saw illustrated had a very large No. of colours which showed great detail.

Powerless or anuone else, a very good start is a book, sorry have just checked my library and one of the family seem to have nicked the book I was looking for. It was on Chaos. Don't be put off by the title it's excellent reading and uses a very simple approach.

Seem to have led this off the topic. :blush:

Oh yes and I forgot to mention, that link that Oracle posted. Very interesting theory. I have tested the maths with my little notepad and pencil and have to say that I'm not 100% about the iterates approaching infinity. surely if they remain bounded then they would be restricted in some way. Now the graphical illustration was very interesting but I felt that the initial values were slightly out. Now I can demonstrate this by................... :huh: Oh I'm sorry, am I boring you???? :blink: :D :D :D

If you access the page from the link that was kindly provided by Mr Oracle you will see that it states that when the initial value a0 is less than –1.5, then, since after one iteration a1 is greater than 1.5, the iterates go off to infinity. Now I can't actually agree with this because if you look at the lovely graph that is provided to demonstrate this you will see that it clearly only goes to three. Which isn't infininty now is it!! :blink: :blink:
