Long night

Had an interesting night, attention drawn outside by odd ripping noise, noticed unseasonal and very late firework display at about 2am. Proving conclusively that high tension overhead lines and wet willow trees don't get on well together. Called out the Western power emergency bods who then spent two hours in the dark and wet very savagely pruning the tree. Not a job I intend to apply for any time soon.

Seems the ripping noise was this mature and rather large tree splitting, clean up's going to be a bugger.

Time for a nap I'm moderately knackered.

I had an odd night the night before. I was woken from deep sleep at 11.00pm by a very loud sound of church bells ringing - not one church but all the local places of worship.

It took me a couple of minutes to appreciate that it wasn't a new war starting but the centennial commemoration of the start of WW1
