debbie14
Hi, hope someone can help. My son's laptop (windows 8) did something when I wasn't around and he ended up refreshing it. I have located windows.old files but don't know how to extract them back to windows 8 to be able to use them. Is is right that I'll need to reload all programs as well to enable the files to work. Please help :(
Belatucadrus
Retrieving files from the Windows.old folder Refresh will have deleted all programs not supplied with the PC, Windows apps added from the store will be OK and anything pre-installed should still be there. Programs added afterwards will need installing again, any file created in formats specific to these programs will be unreadable until they are put back. Irene
Hello Debbie, welcome to Windows Forum. :) In addition to the information provided by Belatucadrus, you might also find this useful. Perhaps you could restore your PC to an earlier point in time (before your son made the changes):http://windows.microsoft.com/en-GB/windows-8/restore-refresh-reset-pc
