RAM issue

Depends a lot on your laptop and what you're doing with it. Your profile says Windows 7 if it's an older 32 bit system then 4GB is as much as it can handle, if it's 64 bit then it can handle 8GB and you may see some improvement.

 

However as you've only noticed the slow down over the last few months, it may be worth wondering what's changed to slow things down. A little housecleaning may be in order Error check the drive then run Optimise and Defragment. before spending money.
