Boris
See:- http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-42309371 The issue affects laptops in the EliteBook, ProBook, Pavilion and Envy ranges, among others. HP has issued a full list of affected devices, dating back to 2012.
andsome
Because of key loggers I never type on banking sites, I always copy and paste from my D drive or memory stick.
-pops-
I have one of the machines in question. I only use it for frivolous purposes as I've always been suspicious of commercial computers (rather than ones I've assembled myself). Turns out I was right in this instance. What concerns me about this cock-up is that it's been going on since 2012. Doesn't anyone at HP keep an eye on these things? Well, they have now but it's taken nearly six years. Not good enough! -pops-
I opened the link to the HP site, found my machine and downloaded the supposed "cure". It told me it was 118MB but at 26.5MB the download stopped telling me it was complete. I attempted to open the file only to be told it was corrupt and incomplete. This happened twice. I gave up.
