AlanHo
Holiday Insurance is a big element of our annual holiday costs. We have one river cruise and two other overseas holidays on average each year. I am no longer able to use our Bank's "Free" Holiday Insurance or buy an annual policy at a sensible cost, now that I am over 80 years of age. I have spent a few hours today on the internet getting single trip quotes for a 10 day holiday in Portugal we have booked for September and was getting funny money quotes in excess of £500 due to my age and our combined medical conditions. That is until I found this web site https://medicaltravelcompared.co.uk/ You enter all your personal information and they come up with quotes from a number of different insurers. They produced quotes for us in the range £99.07 and on up to £635. I selected one with Holiday Extras, backed by Alliance which has cost £166.43. I recommend anyone with pre-existing medical conditions who is taking a holiday abroad to give them a try

D4\/!d
Thanks, a useful tip. I thought you were linking us to Conjunctivitis.com but that's a site for sore eyes.
andsome
Have you seen all the beautiful places in the U. K? No long waits in airports, no messing about recovering your luggage

No long waits in airports, no messing about recovering your luggage To answer your question. I doubt that anyone has seen all the beautiful places in the UK - there are so many and so widely distributed. You did not mention in your list of benefits that the UK also offers :- The extortionate cost of accommodation The crowded roads which results in the fact you can get from our house to the Algarve in less time than you can drive to Cornwall or North Yorkshire The moody weather The poor service you get from many hotels and restaurants Despite these UK benefits, it so happens that we spend more time per year travelling the UK than we do abroad. For example the calendar for 2018 currently shows January - 3 days in Norfolk February - 4 days in the Isle of Wight (Warners) March - 8 days in Lanzarote April - 4 days To visit Calke abbey and surrounds May - 7 days in Westward Ho June - 3 days in Lincolnshire and 8 days in Norfolk July - 7 days cruising the Brecon canal Aug/Sep - 7 days on Rhine river cruise Sept - 11 days in Portugal Oct - nothing yet booked Nov - nothing yet booked Dec - Stay home and have a rest. Totals UK 28 Abroad 26 This list does not include the discounted and last minute short mid-week or week-end breaks that are slotted in almost every month. There are so many I don't keep a record There I rest my case.
andsome
Good for you, but there are many who have never seen much of the UK. A typical example is a couple of friends two doors away, the male who has unfortunately died. Until we pushed them into it, they had never even seen the English Lake District.
