doug Posted November 15, 2003 Report Share Posted November 15, 2003 Having gone over to XP Pro+SP! I've been checking out all my critical applications. One of the first was to checkout Solitare, once I where to look fo it. First runs seemed OK but now the end bit where the finished stacks are discarded has slowed down to a crawl. Have tried un-installing the games packaged re booting and re-installing with no affect. This may have occured since I removed and re-installed Virtual CD H+H. Guest nellie2 Posted November 16, 2003 Report Share Posted November 16, 2003 Doug for event viewer go to control panel, performance and maintenance, administrative tools....then you should see the event viewer shortcut. Double click on that and it will bring up a window with the event viewer tree in it with the choice of application, security and system. Click on application and you will see in the other pane a load of blue i's (for information) but there may be some yellow exclamation marks for warnings and some red circles for errors.... you can double click these to get some more info on the actual event. What proportion of reds and yellows are you getting in relation to the blue ones?If everything is going OK and the warnings are relatively few, you can ignore them. On one of my machines I get a string of 15 red warnings every day telling me that my second hard disk isn't working. The time of the warning varies but it's always there. The fact is, though, that as far as I'm concerned, everything works OK including the "errant" disk. These warnings are only a few amongst all the blue ones I get so I'm not worried. doug Posted November 16, 2003 Author Report Share Posted November 16, 2003 OK pops, I'll stop sweating. I was hoping there might be some diagnostic tool to say what the problem was and how to fix it. I've run the SFC with no apparent report. I'm still puzzled as to why Solitair takes so long to discarf. In the past this sort of thing was usuall my first indication of trouble - like about time to do a dsk clean up and defrag. I've done both with no improvement. -pops- Posted November 16, 2003 Report Share Posted November 16, 2003 Think yourself lucky (or clever enough) to get to the end of solitaire to be able to see then cards doing their thing - and on that subject, my "errant" machine doesn't do the display - it gets to the end, makes a grunt and asks if I want another go.
