Tankus Posted November 20, 2003 Report Share Posted November 20, 2003 but incarcerated for 4 weeks doing jury service.I found jury service quite distressing (child abuse)vote was 10/2 not guilty or more like 2 guilty and 10 unsure ....I have since seen the couple several times since and spoken to the mother before we both recognised each other at the same time .........Difficult to say the least ...I hope that was my last ...! AlanHo Posted November 21, 2003 Report Share Posted November 21, 2003 TankusI was foreman of the jury on a murder case - a young father accused of shaking his 10 month old baby to death 3 years ago.I say foreman - it was more like referee - some of the jurors got very abusive with one another.After several hours of us deliberating the judge asked if we had reached a unanimous verdict - 'fraid not says I. So he sent us back to get a 10/2 majority. After another full day deliberating (if you could have called it that with some emotions running so high) I had to admit defeat and sent him a note saying that we were unable to reach a vedict - no matter how long we were left to deliberate. Hence the jury were dismissed.I heard afterwards that it was his third trial - two previous trials ending in a jury unable to reach a verdict.
