moon
Mornin' all. Well, I'm full of questions but everything seems OK so far. Windows loaded without a hitch onto my 'small' partition (20Gig) and I changed the boot sequence to Floppy/CD-Rom/Raid Booted up , sweet as a nut. I'm wondering if I can now take advantage of the experience of illustrious members ? I've got seven 'Yellowed' entries in 'Devices'. First five....Ethernet controllerMultimedia Audio ControllerPCI deviceRaid ControllerUSB Controller...I figure are waiting for the mobo CD. Correct ?Next two....Video ControllerVideo Controller (VGA compatible)...I figure are waiting for the graphics card CD ? The PCI device listed should be the dormant graphics card ? moon
OK, sorted. When you're around , ellas, or somebody, for simplicity I installed all the drivers off the mobo CD. I've got the nForce 3.13 WinXP2K WHQL International that you pointed me to but I'll now have to install those as an upgrade. Some coaching on that would be appreciated. Ta B)EDIT : Thanks to all for the assembly advice. I didn't have to make an idiot of myself in here, you know. I hope my torture has taken the sting out of the process for other first-time builders. :D
Guest ellas
moon just install the nforce drivers over the top of the old ones, uninstalling them can cause big probs so just disable av and install.

moon
LOL ! It's actually my 76th build after a lifetime designing mainframes and integrating them with radio telescopes. I was just sent here to check out if you guys were any good. :Dmoon just install the nforce drivers over the top of the old ones, uninstalling them can cause big probs so just disable av and install.AV ? Getting a bit ahead of ourselves, ain't we ? Getting this baby online is phase four. :D OK, all I've got is the 20GB partition ( C) I can't recall an option to set up more than one . How do I set up the remaining 100GB ? As an extended partition ? What tool do I use ?
moon
I have Partition Manager but it looks like it's DOS based or something. What can I use to set up the rest of the drive ?
mark2
Moon for partitioning I've only ever used Partition magic, Which partition manager are you referring to Acronis partitionmanager or Paragon partition manager ? There are also several partition tools on the Ultimate Boot CD http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/ which may be worth a look at. If you need a copy preburned PM me with details. moon
No worries, chaps. MH pointed out that you can partition and manage your drives inside Windows 2000. I just went to 'computer/manage and partitioned from there. Most cool. Thanks for the links though, which will be useful for my 98 machines. Cheers all. This is a great site for enthusiasts. :)
