mark2
Getting spam from messenger ?The register has noticed an increase of prOn spam.M$knowledgebase recommends disabling Netbios and RPC or blocking with your firewall. Not had this problem myself but never had netbios or RPC running on this comp, one of the first things I'd disabled. peter e
I've noticed a distinct increase in spam on my hotmail account and judging by the subject lines, much of it is porn. I used to get about six per day but recently it's around twelve. I just delete it rather than mess about blocking it etc. Going to download Mailwasher or similar this weekend and see if that sorts it out.Pete
Guest Cookie
I don't get spam since ditching Hotmail and my Mailwasher gets rid of any odd ones I get before it finds its way into my IncrediMail. :D
Guest Ddraigcoch
To stop it happening in 2000/XP, go to start, run and type services.msc. Double-click Messenger, select Properties, then Stop and disable as the start up type. In 95/98/ME, go to Control Panel, Add/Remove, Windows SetUp, System Tools, Details and uncheck Win Pop Up.
