moon
The Pit test will point out any Active-X problem and gives the cures. The Eicar Test file is a benign virus simulator which is just run to test your anti-virus software. It shouldn't be a security issue in itself but A.V programmes should always record it as a virus on your machine.
mark2
For the Active X vulnerability.in IE go to tools > internet options > security > custom and reset your active x

mark2
So long as the active X are set to prompt you will always receive a warning about them and can then make your own mind up as to whether they should run.
