I bet they won't make you a freeman of the city ! :P

Having been born there and lived there for over 30 years, I hate going back there these days

"safer city" / speed bumps / parking charges / bus lanes / pedestrianised centre / parking meters etc.

Cheltenham far better :) - even if its 10 miles further from the Forest !

Having lived in Cheltenham for about 20yrs with trips to glos for shopping, Cheltenham was always more civilised , but when I go to Cheltenham now it seems to have changed for the worse somehow, and I now live in Bristol some parts of which are still civilised !

Yes I more often go down to Bristol than Gloucester/Cheltenham these days.

Cribbs Causeway (ample parking) 25 miles, Cheltenham 28, Gloucester 20.

The only drawback is the old Bridge toll - Now £4.50.
