doug
Having just reformatted to NTFS and re-installed XP PRO I now cannot install the driver for my ancient Black Widow 4830 pro scanner. Neither from the original floppy or a compatible driver that I was using successfully with XP and the FAT system. I've posted a thread in the Pitstop, but they're a bit behind us so I thought I'd post here as well. Any suggestions? :(
trackrat
Since Devcom went to the wall you will have difficulty getting drivers to make it work on Xp.I had a 936 pro USB black widow and even the drivers Devcom provided were dodgy and when my motherboard died and I went to get the drivers again the people who took devcom over wanted me to pay for the dodgy drivers, so I gave it to a relation who runs 98 se and purchased a Canon lide 30 which I have no problems with.My cousin who had it of me recently changed to windows 2000 and cannot get the scanner to work know. trackrat
Doug if you look at this site you can get the drivers but it will cost you £15.00.http://www.webage.co.uk/blackwidow.html

doug
Hmmm. None of this sounds like good news. Why can't I load the existing driver and run in this compatibility mode?
trackrat
I tried running in compatability mode Doug, and it just would not work, that was why I gave it to my cousin because I knew it worked on 98se.
doug
Oh dear. Well have to be patient for Father's day and birthday to see if I can scrape enough pennies for a replacement. :(
don't ask
My "XP-obsolete scanner" ended up attached to my old P2 400 running Win98(first edition) which is now part of our network.I'm a canny Scot - never throw anything away (not even the old P2 which has proved to be more reliable than the two newer machines we currently have) - still have my 486 too, it started life as a 386SX, and also have my Amstrad 1640 and monochrome monitor
casey
There is a XP driver for parallel port here at driverguide.com. Don't know if it what you already have.driver
