-pops- Posted February 17, 2004 Report Share Posted February 17, 2004 Heat the iron to its hottest and use it to iron an old piece of cotton or (preferably) linen cloth. Press down hard and move to a different piece of the cloth with each pass of the iron. The molten whatever it is should gradually be removed. DO NOT use any other type of cloth to do this. Cotton/polyester blends and suchlike are definite a no-no.Failing that you could very carefully heat the iron as above and remove the deposit with one of those modern steel wool pan scourers - the stainless steel type. christmascracker Posted February 17, 2004 Author Report Share Posted February 17, 2004 Well, tried the hot iron on cloth one but it wouldn't budge, so used steel wool which worked :) So thank you, you've saved me from having to buy a new one.Must learn not to have it too hot :blush: Don't have much luck with irons, I've been through 3 in the past year!
