doug
I have received the above as a donation from one of our other members - arrived this morning. I have been to the Primax site and downloaded the Win2000 driver and installed it. When I connect the USB cable I get the ding ding sound, which presumably says it's OK - at least thats what happens when I plug in my printer or camera. However I cannot find any trace of it on the system. Device manager doesn't show and problems or conflicts. With it plugged in, the 2 USB controllers and root hubs say they are working properly. Any clues? As Our Nel says "looking for drivers under XP can be fun" :DWill look in again later.

doug
Tried there. I found the scanner in device manager and it says it's working properly but it doesn't show in cameras/scanners in control panel. Also I can't access it through M$ Photoed or PSP8. Any suggestions for where else to look. I've had a thought in that the twain driver etc. are listed as 32 bit, but I'm formatted as NTFS. Would this have a bearing? spikeychris
32 bit formatted as NTFS will not make any difference. I have used this make of scanner with XP but can't remember how!Think it was just with camera/scanner wizard in cont panel, however you could use this Download driver and try it. Just type the 3 letter code into the box and you will not have to register.
doug
Tried that still no-go!
spikeychris
Click here and register the link will then send you to a driver that might workTheres also ...1.Download the Windows 2000 driver again (delete the old one)2.Create a new file (directory) and give it a name.3.Rightclick on the downloaded driver "EXE".4. Select "extract with WinZip " or whatever app you use and extract to your new file.5. Go to system, devices and select that you want to installa new driver for your scanner. Make the selection where to look for the driver manually. Direct the search to yournew file.6. There should be 3 files, select the OS file and after thatthere will be 2 new files. Don't select the one that readssomething like win 95 or 98 but the second one.7. Cross your fingers and say a prayer
doug
Prayers haven't worked. Under imaging devices/ FlatBed Scanner it says the device is working properly. But I'm b********d if I ca access it. Is there anywhere I should look on my system?
nellie2
Doug I don't know if this will be of any use and Spikey has most likely covered all bases anyway.... but, I've done a bit of surfing around and found this driver download with the following bit of info attached. These are the win 2000 drivers which work with xp. The normal install doesn't work so I have come up with a work-a-round that gets them on the system for you. Please see the read me fille in the zip.I suppose you could give it a try? http://www2.driverguide.com/uploads/uploads11/17934.html
doug
I might have to wait until we get back from our hols - Mon > Madeira and taking her new power trike. Got family coming for dinner and have only just cleared up from getting the second coat of paint on the ceiling of the hall, stairs landing and upstairs. Just looked in and decided to check on the software for my camera and found it's a no - no. Now this might be promising! I've had a similar problem in the past when the TWAIN drivers get messed about. I'll have to unload and search them all out and ditch. This may result in a clean start. Don't let craig mess up the forum 'till after I get back because I'll need to go back through the threads again.

doug
It's OK. Doing a complete clear out of all references to the camera drivers and the scanner. Then re-installed the camera - original CD disc. not the upgrade, just before the family arrived. Downloaded the photo's from the future son-in-law's camera of some shots he has just taken of No.1 G'daughter because his PC is a bit screwed up. (Another job to sort out). Had a damned good meal and evening. Just cleared up and sent No.1 wife to bed and then thought I'll just try loading one of the downloads and see if it works and bingo. I can operate the scanner OK in M%Photoed and PSP8. Just done a very snazzy scan of a pencil - in 3D.So I think this calls for a resolved sticker someone - Nel would you do me a quickie. Thanks for all the perseverance all. It must have been due to a TWAIN conflict after all. :D
