Boris
A very grateful friend (who's PC I have just brought back from a prematurely early grave) has offered to get me a new motherboard for my other PC which is temporarily defunct !It has to be an Elite mobo as he can get them really cheaply through a contact ! but I can't decide between these two Socket A boards :-ECS KT600Ahttp://www.ecs.com.tw/products/pd_spec.asp?product_id=360FSB 400/333/266 MHz North Bridge: VIA® KT600 South Bridge: VIA® VT8237 3 x 184-pin DDR DIMM socketSupport DDR400/333/266 MHz 2.5V DDR SDRAM AGP 8XUSB 2.0Serial ATAor ECS L7VTAhttp://www.ecs.com.tw/products/pd_spec.asp?product_id=327FSB 333/266/200 MHz North Bridge: VIA® KT400 South Bridge: VIA® VT8235 3 x184-pin DDR DIMM socketSupport DDR400*/333/266 MHz 2.5V DDR SDRAM (* by overclocking) AGP 8XUSB 2.0RAIDThe KT600A is far better, but - I would really like to try RAID.I have no hope of any SATA drives for ages !I can only really afford a Barton XP 2500+ or similar for whichever board I choose.Which of the two would you choose ?and why ? nellie2
I would go for this one......... ECS L7VTAThe reason being because you said you would like to mess about with raid... and what is the point of having sata if you can't play with that? With technology moving so fast.... even in six months time the other board may be old news... and drives may have changed again so what is the point of getting something that you hope to be able to add to at some point!!!
