Guest Rebel=UK=
The use of P2P itself is not illegal unless abused for the exchange of copyrighted material. You may argue that most of the time it is used for the exchange of copyrighted material ,but thats not what this is about. Ive jsut asked a simple question on what is shareaza like to use, because its a P2P software the topic was closed, all i wanted was a simple answer yes its good r no its rubbish. I cant see anything wrong with that at all. I know you have rules, but to be honest right i think the mods on here r far to harsh, i like coming to this forum i really do, but i think they r pushing personal views on certain subjects to far................................................................... bvw
What do you use P2P for ?
Sir Radfordin
For what it is worth I agree with what you are saying. However as bvw seems to be suggesting if not for the exchange of copyright protected material what are you using P2P software for? Email/FTP/Websites seems to supply all I need in the way of downloads. The 'mods' have a job to do, "we" are just visitors to the site and as long as that situation remains have no 'right' to questions their actions. What im getting @ is that fact that the post that was locked was not in anyway in my view breaking any rules. it was a simple enough question..has any1 used this bit of software
Tankus
There are also potential legal problems on the horizon ....so whats the point in the risk ....?Particularly as the the owners of the various copyright's that are usually involved are becoming more litigious ........Its hardly worth the effort getting out of a pram over it ....? ...is it ... nellie2
The mods are not harsh at all. We cannot be seen to condone, in any way shape or form the exchange of copyright material. Whilst your question may have been innocent enough, the resulting discussion may have gone down a road we do not want to travel. It is best for all of us that we stay away from the subject of which P2P program is best. There are plenty of other things that we can discuss here.If you want to have a private discussion then by all means use the PM facility available on the board. Agent Smith
Thats not the point, you can use it and i have used it to find patches, mods, drivers and software which inst illegalI have to state that in just about every example you have listed, you are far better off downloading the files from official sites.Which leaves P2P software in the position of really only being there to illegally share copyrighted files.Discussions such as this, especially when you are asking if a particular piece of P2P software is any good, can have the undesired effect of misleading unaware users of this Forum into believing that using P2P software for illegal purposes is viewed as acceptable by us.That is why I closed the original post. I am leaving this open in order to see just how it develops, but my initial thought was to remove it for the above reasons.I personally do not care what you do from the privacy of your own home, but you have to respect the fact, that when you start asking about it here, it becomes general property, and I have to make a decision based on that.Mr. M.
