Bush comes down firmly on the Israeli side in the annexing of Arab land (West Bank)BBC realone Israel steps up its very public assassination programme...... Guaranteed to stir up Palestinian unrest ...Saudi Arabian internal security forces on high alert , due to a possible spill over of unrest from Iraq ....Kuaites none too happy ...Iran's mediator assassinated in Iraq last week ....The world's policeman there to keep the peace ..?Where are we heading ....with cheesy at the helm , or is he now just a passenger to events that have taken a wrong turn ...?One of the origional causes perhaps ...A map of the region during the British empire Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

"Get out of our holy city!" is a two-a-penny shout in Iraq now, and it seems the irrational population doing the attacking are overlooking the arrival of peace, a new government, stability etc (well, whenever the politicians pull their finger out and get it set up) in favour of killing imperialist Western soldiers for Allah. I just filed bum chum in my mental file of smarty pants responses to say without being obscene. anyway... I think this Iraq thing is a mess... the US participation with Israel has been a mess for years... nothing is getting solved here except alot more troops are getting slaughtered for trying to liberate a country. Its bad form all the way around and has been from the start. I am to the point let them run wild and battle it out with each other. Saddam is gone so sort it out amongst themselves because they do not want us there anymore. I dont find this cowardly I just see no point in killing more troops and more civilians for no other reason than the military were sent there to find some nonexistent weapons, then it was made out to be they were there to liberate and get rid of saddam. Ok those two issues are done. If they hate us bad enough they are gonna burn and multilate people and take great joy in it ... people who were merely there to help and deliver supplies.. let them go without because they apparently dont want it. And I have to be honest. If Iraq attacked my country I would be shooting at people and everything else to try to retain some sense of sanity of why foreigners are taking over my home land. I am weary of seeing people dying. Its a mess that cant be sorted out easily and more will die until the mess is under control. But how to get it under control? Bomb the entire country and kill them all to start out fresh? Back off the occupation a little and try to reason with some of the folks who are raising so much hell? what to do what to do. -pops- Posted April 19, 2004 Report Share Posted April 19, 2004 I feel the basic problem is that the "west", specifically Bush, his lapdogs, cronies and all the assorted hangers on cannot accept that there is something more and different to what they describe as DEMOCRACY. The peoples of the Middle East are not used to any sort of freedom and when it is given to them in 1000% they are not capable of "appreciating" it. Muslims are used to being controlled. If not by the state, then by the Ayatollahs, Mullahs, Imams and whatever other leaders their religion has. Note that that statement is not intended to be disrepectful in any way to the Muslim faith, its just the way that things are.Basically, they are frightened of change, a strait common to us all. When the change is forced upon them like it has now, they react and the only way they know how to react is by using one of the freedoms they now have - with violence.Of course the murderous terrorist organisations see this as an ideal opportunity to stir things up to promote their own ideals and what was initially, possibly, nothing to do with them, these evil setups they are now backing any attempt at change.What also has to be carefully considered is the real motive of Bush in the illegal invasion of Iraq and this was most definitely not the liberation of its peoples or a fear of WMD. It was so that they Americans can continue to fill up their automobiles with very cheap fuel, continue wasting the earth's precious resources, continue pressing American big business into places where it is not wanted. I nearly cried when I read that a very few days, perhaps hours, after the Saddam regime had been overthrown, a MacDonalds was planned to be opened. Are the Arab peoples ready for these slabs of almost inedible minced cow parts (parts that you would never eat if you knew where in and on the cow they came from) placed betweem two pieces of plastic foam? I doubt it.As for the idiocies going on in Israel. Don't get me going on that. My blood pressure wouldn't stand it. It is all a total mess and it will get worse. The response to the atrocity in Fallujah should have been immediate , the arrests of the guilty as evidenced by videotapes of the event. The delay was caused by lack of manpower in an army starved of reinforcement by homeland politics .I sympathise with your reaction, pwp, but the blame for the aftermath lies with those who didn't have the conviction to pursue this war in the first instance.
