Plus, unlike existing Instant Messengers, Xfire lets you receive IM's without disrupting your game!X-Fire...the handiest Gaming tool on the planet....First of all the download is only 385kb and the install is around a megabyte.There are two modes....unexpandedAnd expandedWe will explore the use of these when a friend comes online and is ready to play a game....First however we need to add a friend....Again with the simple Xfire program this is an easy task... all you do is click "add+" then type the name of your new buddy and you all ready to start playing....Adding a BuddyOk...Now that a user is onlline...we can talk to him/her by double clicking his/her name and the main x-Fire window...this brings up a chat box which can be used like any other IM program (below)Having a ChatGame and server info Joining a buddy's gameOK...Now that we have learned the basic functions of x-fire to act as an online gaming IM program, I will now point out some of its more advanced, less commonly used features.....----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Who's up for a game?If a couple of you friends are online but not playing games you can easily let them know that your up for a match by selecting the game you want to play from the drop down menu at the bottom of the main x-Fire Window...(shown below)....Then having selected this...on the left hand side of your conversations(for your buddies) it will read "yourusername" Up for a game of "the game you selected"....Feel like being a loner?My last tip for using x-fire is....If you just don't feel like playing only and all you want to do is have a quite game either completely on your own or against the AI all you have to do is select tools,launch, then your desired game....--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Links to clickX-Fire Home PageDirect Download LinkNew Users Register HereX-Fire Forums Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
