  1. I have been having a problem with a computer, where it's been randomly switching to a blue screen and restarting under a MEMORY_MANAGEMENT error. I was told by the person who uses that computer that it has always had this problem since shortly after it was first purchased. I discovered while running the program Memtest86 for a few hours that there are some memory errors in the computer. I've been trying to determine which of the two RAM cards is the one containing the errors, but I'm seeing the strangest thing. The memory errors only exist while both cards are present. In trying to determine which card needs replacing, I have been popping them out one at a time, and testing the machine with only one card present. I've tried each card independently several times now for long periods of time with no errors. However, when I plug the second one back in and try the errors return. I know the problem isn't the slots themselves because in doing these test, I've been using both slots independently. The problem only exists when both cards are used, or both slot are used. The cards in use are DDR3 1333MHZ PC3 240 PIN DIMM Cards. One has a size of 1 Gigabyte and the other is smaller. The mother board supports a maximum 4 Gigabytes of RAM. So I'm at a loss right now. I don't want to buy two new RAM cards if the problem isn't the RAM cards themselves. Has anyone encountered any issues like this? Any ideas what may be the cause?
  2. Hello, i've had bsod problems for about half a year now, and as smart as I am, I have not really considered taking action until now. I'll try to provide you with as much relevant information as i can, if i've done something wrong or missed something, please tell me. When does the bsod usually happen? - When opening new tabs in google chrome - When doing nothing at all - A few times when playing games, but not very often Observations? - I ran a memtest a couple of months ago, i let it run for 5 hours, it only got one pass along with a hole bunch of errors (pretty sure it was over at least a 100 000 errors) So I'm pretty the RAM is the problem, but i want to make sure. - I witnessed the cpu constantly reaching 100% before a freeze crash, but that was not a bsod. My computer specs: - Cooler Master Silent Pro M2 520W PSU ATX 12V V2.3, 80 Plus Bronze, Modular, 2x 6+2pin PCIe, 6x SATA, 135mm Fan - Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600MHz 16GB CL9 Kit w/4x 4GB, CL9-9-9-24, 1.5V, Vengeance Blue Heatspreader, 240 pin - EVGA GeForce GTX 670 2GB PhysX CUDA PCI-Express 3.0 - Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD3H, Socket-1155 ATX, Z77, DDR3, 2xG3+1xG2-PCIe-x16, SLI/CFX, mSATA, VGA, DVI, HDMI, DP, UEFI - Intel® Core i5-3570K Processor Socket-LGA1155, Quad Core, 3.4GHz, 6MB, 77W, HD4000, Boxed w/fan - Seagate Barracuda® 1TB SATA 6Gb/s (SATA 3.0), 64MB Cache, 7200RPM, 3.5" My latest dmp file ( out of 42 dmp files):/>http://www.mediafire.com/?lk34ffdldcfrfbc ( I was not allowed to upload a zip file, so i uploaded it on Mediafire instead ) Anyway, I hope you guys can help, i would really appreciate it. If i haven't provided you with the correct information, please tell me.
  3. Hi, There are lot of software that people install that work only when opening them (like open office and others). As for open office and LiberOffice, do they affect the windows performance if they are installed, but not opened (Do they use any resources while not in use)? In general, softwares that are installed and in order to use them you must open them, do they use any resources while not in use? Thanks, Dave
  4. Gentlemen, I recently installed two 4GB sticks of DDR3 into my desktop after one 2GB stick failed(I took out the 2gb pair). I've noticed that when multitasking or playing video games, or both, that my commit charge is near 100% but my used physical memory is still at 50% or lower. If I keep increasing the memory usage in my applications or run more, Windows will eventually warn me that I am out of virtual memory though I still plenty of free and standby memory left. My pagefile is set to 2056 max but it is never utilized in any significant manner. Any Idea as to why Windows wont utilize more of the RAM instead of just "running out"? Specs: Phenom II X4 965 (3.4GHz) Radeon 5850 2GB RAM: 8GB 64bit Win 7 Mobo: MSI 890FXA-GD70 I'd appreciate your input.
  5. So here's the deal... I'm not an utter noob when it comes to computers, but I'm completely befuddled by my current situation. I recently installed windows 7 on my computer. To do so, I had to take out one stick of my G.skill 2 gb 1333 RAM. Now that windows 7 has been installed, I can't reinstall the RAM I took out. Every time I attempt to boot Windows with more than 2 gb, I don't get very far. The system says "Starting WIndows", and it stalls... permanently. It doesn't move forward. That, or it restarts and continues a vicious cycle of restarting. I should probably mention that I installed windows 7 over windows xp, with Windows xp being the 32 bit version and windows 7 being the 64 bit. I've run memtest on each stick of ram individually, and no errors show up. But the minute I have both sticks of RAM in there it doesn't boot. Each and every motherboard slot is fine (More than 10+ test repetitions on both). I've used both sticks together in a friend's computer, and both work great. I don't understand what's going on. Can someone help me out?
