It may not be the most popular formula but is by far the most durable and can be rewritten tens of thousands of times.I have had no problems with CD-R or CDRW discs but a friend of mine - much more wealthy than me - several years ago bought one of the first CD burners to be marketed in the UK to transfer all his photos. I cannnot recall the cost but it was humungous - as was the price of the CD-R discs. Last year he found that several of his discs had corrupted even though they were stored in a dry cupboard in his study.
