catgate
I was just prowling the news when I came across this in an article about how our mentally challenged leader is coping with the enormous blow to his ego:-He will outline long-term spending plans and policies for education, health and home affairs in what would be an ... I am sure the whole country is just dying to give him some more money to fritter away on lame brained lunacy. The idiot never stops to think, does he? When have you heard him mention 'long term saving plans', which are what are really needed. My dear old father used to say that one could always tell when a politician was lying. ...He would have his mouth open!!! Have you noticed that our little treasure seems to breath through his mouth!!

What a load of old rubbish. What planet do you live on? How do you finance the day to day running of a country (school books ETC:) being massively in debt and make a statement that you are going to save up???I don't like the guy but to just insult him is pointless............ How do you finance the day to day running of a country (school books ETC:) being massively in debt and make a statement that you are going to save up???I don't like the guy but to just insult him is pointless............Well, strange to relate I happen to live on this one, and have done so for more than my appointed three score and ten. In that time I have seen and learned quite a lot. I have also seen a number of idiot politicians (that's very nearly 100% of them). I can assure you that the hole that we are in, and that includes your How do you finance the day to day running of a country (school books ETC:) being massively in debt, is not caused by the likes of you and I, but by the egocentric freeloaders who would have us look upon them as LEADERS.Should you doubt this, I suggest you have a long and patient read through the contents of http://www.angelfire.com/realm3/accord . I must say, however, that it is rather heavy going and one needs to enter into the reading with an open mind. The problem with us all is that we always view any situation with the sum of the knowledge and experiences which we have previously aquired, and which, quite naturally, we think of as "normal", whereas normality varies enormously from person to person (explained more fully on the above site). As a result we tend to start viewing any information with a partially formed opinion of what we are going to see/hear, and we thus have erected some barriers to our absorbing more information which might alter our view of normality. I should be pleased to hear your views after you have had a look.

spikeychris
Quote “LEADERS. They are, in general, egocentric freeloaders completely devoid of humility and humanity and totally devoted to self agrandisment and the aquisition and retention of power at any cost.” End quote. How can you justify that statement? When you say leaders, this is all political leaders I take it. The average local councilor works his/her socks off, in most cases dealing with the “Why have my bins not been emptied?” comments ETC: They have full time jobs and “fit” the council work they do in between work and play. They are receiving calls on Sundays and bank holidays. That’s not to say some of them are not scumbags. I live in Blackburn Lancashire which the Labour party won in the last election by only 4 seats, one week after the election 6 so called Labour party members who were voted in left the party and have gone “Independent” I can say that I voted for Labour and that was a betrayal. They stole the votes; they should be made to stand for a bi-election. They were not voted in because of their personalities, they were elected as representatives of the Labour party. Quote “These appointed people’s representatives would be from all walks of life and from all levels of education, so that the view expressed would be truly community wide”, End quote: Idealist fantasy I think. How can someone with little knowledge deal with the inns and outs of sorting say, an extradition treaty law change? Alternatively, working with a tin pot dictator who needs his ego massaged so that he will change the way he treats his people. As you will know, Winston Churchill said that democracy is the least bad of all of the systems of government produced out of human experience. I have always thought that anyone who wants to be a politician should not be allowed to be so. However, I have also thought, “Why should someone want to be a prison guard or a policeman? These are jobs with great power over people and they have first line influence on how their charges live there lives. Should we not allow them to take the job? Should the job be even advertised? Can you root out the sadists and power hungry nut cases with an aptitude test??I could go for the “find the best man for the job and let them get on with it,” someone on the lines of Richard Branson. He has no-one left to impress and doesn’t need to baby kiss to be elected but politicians don’t run this country, they take the falls and the praise, it’s the mandarins of Westminster that truly rule the country. I have only read a couple of the pages from your site and its fascinating reading, out of interest if you had to bracket yourself, where would you place yourself politically. trackrat
After reading Catgates URL i have to say that I think whoever is in goverment they will always look after thereselves before trying to look after the people who elected them. Also Blair is trying to do what Thatcher did except he is not fit to lick her shoes and eventually thinking she was untouchable was Thatchers downfall,is Blair heading in the same direction?. Robbers Dog
Thatcher was a pathological egotist. The most morally corrupt of any PM, before or since. Under Thatcher this country became a F*** You Jack I'm All-right society.
andsome
Thatcher was brilliant for the first few years, then she lost her way. Blair is not fit to lick her boots.
catgate
trackrats appraisal of the situation, vis-a-vis "whoever is in goverment they will always look after thereselves before trying to look after the people who elected them", is perfectly correct, for the simple reason that that is how "the democracy sham" was set up to be (by the clerics and squirarchy of the land). It can never be any other way without a total reformation of "democracy" and the way that democracy is funded and regulated. As far as Robbers Dog's observation goes it was just that The Blessed Margaret thought that she had a devine right to do what ever she wanted, (as does our present incumbent idiot) and consequently she was extremely open about how she did it. It must be remembered, however, that neither of the above mentioned pair were alone in their ventures. They were "abley" assisted by elected/appointed sycophant advisors, and lobbyists, paid for by big business, who were all in the trough "snout deep" themselves. They are receiving calls on Sundays and bank holidays. Not so in my experience, Chris. Local Councillors are now salaried and are fast becoming full-time career politicians. They have the same motto as their national counterparts - "me first, my party second and the people I represent a very poor third (if they are lucky)".The politicians of this nation (local and national) of all parties, have let us down and continue to treat our views with contempt because the egocentric dozy twonks think that they know best. Well, I know different; and so do the people - and that's why we are so cynical.(I suspect that the decision to pay salaries to local councillors was taken because so many of them here in the North were brought up on corruption and fraud charges, that the political leaders thought if they arranged for them to be paid they wouldn't be so quick to get their fingers in the till). Tankus
I think you have to remember what the country was like when the maiden got elected ....heath got mullered by the unions during the power strikes ..plus Callaghan (my fav labour leader in my lifetime ) was also walked to the wall ....Like it or not ..the power of the unions had to be broken ...she did it ...but maybe went to far ..... catgate
Sorry spikeychris I somehow missed your last post when I replied to trackrat and robbersdog. You quote Quote “These appointed people’s representatives would be from all walks of life and from all levels of education, so that the view expressed would be truly community wide”, and go on to decry the idea. Unfortunately you do not have appeared to have read as far as the method used to "select" them. They would be over the age of needing to find fame and fortune, and this would ensure that they had sufficient experience of real life to be able to see things from the perspective of the man in the street (something apparently lacking at present). In any case they would not be making any decisions . They would merely be a true Parliamenti.e a discussion body (for making recommendations.) These recommendations would be voted upon by all member of the public and all those recommendations that were passed into law would be implemented and monitored by a civil service answerable to the public not to political masters. From my point of view this method of running the country could, of course, be altered entirely by the recommendations of the "Parliament" and the subsequent vote. The important thing is to get the decision making done where it should be done, by the people who pay the piper and hence who call the tune. I know that there is a snag to this and that is that everyone will want jam today and also jam tomorrow, but the population will have to grow up quickly and realise that there is no such thing as a free lunch. They should be aided enormously in this by the mature outlook of the Parliament (which is more than be said at present.)where would you place yourself politically. My Collins English dictionary defines the word 'politic' as ...shrewd,expedient,cunning, and I am totally opposed to this, or any other country, being ruled by people who could be said to have or use these properties. The present and previous governments (local and national) have used the words 'government' and 'politics' indiscriminately until they, and the majority of the people of this country, see them both as meaning the same. So in answer to your question I stand against politics but for good democratic government of the people, by the people for the people. This is the edited bit. I should point out that I am totally opposed to political parties of any shade. Their sole purpose is not to provide unbiased government but to provide government slanted in the direction of their supporters (paymasters) and which to me is virtually corruption. (see the history of the Wiggs and Tories) The major point of the scheme laid out in the site is the absolute abolition of party politics, and the introduction of a workable alternative.
