I know that beta versions abound but the official release is not until July or something. The reason I asked was because andker's profile state he is using XP SP2.If the computer used is not XP, how does it know about and want to install XP? GaRFIELD Posted June 25, 2004 Report Share Posted June 25, 2004 I have seen the same problem on a Windows 2003 Server.This is the result (normaly) of missing registry key. Please read your Event Log (if you got one ofc :P ) and look for the MSInstaller error msg. under Application log. GaRFIELD Posted June 25, 2004 Report Share Posted June 25, 2004 Hihehe... in the Registry (START -> RUN -> REGEDIT) there are missing a value as stated in the application log. Double click the error msg, and you will find the details and an explenation on what key is missing).In REGEDIT, you can follow the same path as in the error msg, and find out what/where the key is missing. Rightclick on the "missing" place, and select a standard type ("DWORD") and value="0" (if error.. try "1" that is the probably missing value)Anyway, the error msg in the application log should state exactly which key is missing and where it should be.---------------------------GaRFIELD Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

If I go into regedit I have the following on the left HKEY clasees root, HKEy cureent user etc. What do I do now?In Applications/Editor I have heaps of yellow warnings and some red warnings - when I click on the latter it tells me it is a 1706 problem and is missing files. Scarecrow Man Posted July 2, 2004 Report Share Posted July 2, 2004 If it's Outlook, you may have to re-install the program to clean up what it left behind.Also try inserting your CD when it gives you the error. Big Elf Posted July 3, 2004 Report Share Posted July 3, 2004 I will probably be totally wrong on this but here goes nothing.Certainly earlier versions of Office (2000 in my case) allowed you the option to 'Run All from My Computer' or to run from CD when installing. It's possible that when you installed that the 'Run all from my computer' option wasn't selected and so that's why it asks for the CD.Try installing it again and select the Custom installation option. Office often FU@£$ up to be honest, and i think MS knew that when they also added the REPAIR OFFICE INSTALLATION option on the installation CD.I suggest that u follow Elfy's installation guide.
