Chris
So technically not news worthy but because of the detail that this website goes into i think it's worthy of a little something more.Have you ever wanted a Windows XP CD that would install Windows XP by automatically putting in your name, product key, timezone and regional settings? Followed by silently installing all your favourite applications along with the latest DirectX, .Net Framework and then all the Windows Critical Updates, registry tweaks, updated drivers, and a readily patched UXTheme.dll without any user interaction whatsoever? Then this guide will show you how you can do just that!Target Audience: Home users - who are taking up a time-consuming process of re-installing Windows, manually installing essential applications, downloading windows updates, and tweaking their OS to perfection on every re-format.Difficulty: Requires intermediate experience on Microsoft Windows XP and a basic knowledge of how batch commands function.More | HereThis site is very impressive and would save you alot of time if you read it and tried it. Good Luck is all i can say :blushing:
Scarecrow Man
Great post, I'll read it at work tomorrow. It's past my bed time now! but I definatley wanted to read one of these. :D
-pops-
How much better is it than a full system backup? Certainly a lot less convenient. I admit I have only skimmed through the content but it seems that it doesn't do anything more than a backup and requires a knowledge of batch commands and other (to some) obscure items hidden in the depths of Windows. My backup programs will achieve the same on a regularly updated basis with little or no input from me - and do it in about 20 minutes. It states the target usership is home users. I would wager that the vast majority of home users of XP wouldn't have a clue what this article was talking about and even less know how to achieve the results. Scarecrow Man
I agree with -pops- in that a backup or ghosting program would do much the same, but I'm glad you posted this anyways powerless. :D
r4may
When and If, they eventually sort out XP ( if ever) I might consider using it, otherwise it's Win 98SE and Linux for me.
Scarecrow Man
When and If, they eventually sort out XP ( if ever) I might consider using it, otherwise it's Win 98SE and Linux for me.    :blink:You should try 2k SP4. It's like 98SE and WINXP put together (without all the BS that comes with XP)EDIT: Actually XP is like 98SE and 2k put together, with a lot of BS added, but it's the same thing as above. :D Just a suggestion.. I currently dual boot WINXP/2k and run Linux off live CD's. But, I am installing a version of Linux on my drive (for ease of use, and loading time... CD's take a while )

trackrat
I should be very suprised if the average home user could get past slipstreaming let alone complete all of it.But it is very interesting reading.
