leee Posted July 22, 2004 Report Share Posted July 22, 2004 ok i have Norton Systemworks 2004 original Cd, The last day of the trial it asked me to activate the product, I did and ever since, I cant get it to start. moon Posted July 23, 2004 Report Share Posted July 23, 2004 I always found Norton Systemworks to be a resource hog and conflict generator. The only useful part of it is Wndoctor, imo. AVG is a far better antivirus tool and it's free. Contacting Symantec was always a nightmare. As for having an activation time on a CD that you've bought and paid for , well, speaks for itself.Bin it. You can replace all its components with individual freeware. -pops- Posted July 23, 2004 Report Share Posted July 23, 2004 This is no help to you at all but, following disastrous failures with Norton products many years ago, I would never install anything with the name Norton, Symantec or now (unfortunately) Powerquest.I recall that in another forum, it seemed that complaints about these products exceeded the complaints about all others by a notable margin.Best do as moon suggests. What is the specific problem?Don't forget that there are two systems in use for describing hard drive size - the real one and the one manufacturers use. Example (using small numbers to keep things reasonable size.) one kilobyte is 1024 bytes in the "real" world. However, in manufacture speak, a kilobyte is 1000 bytes so, you appear to have already lost 24 bytes. Similarly, going up a factor, a "real" megabyte is 1,048,576 so you will have "lost" 48,576 bytes. Remember this is geometic progression so by the time you get to a gigabyte, the difference is huge.
