Sexless football.

Why should the sexual shenanigins of any of the so-called celebrities be of any concern to anyone but themselves?

They are paid to entertain the public in their specialised area of expertize. If they do that well, they get (over)paid for it. If they don't do it well, they soon disappear from the public gaze.

It is of no concern to me, you or anyone else what these people legally do in their private lives. Having sex with another human being is not illegal, does no harm to the admiring public (fans) and should therefore be kept confidential between the people involved.

It is only because of the sewer press desperate to titillate that these things ever get mentioned.

I don't care whether some has-been Swede has a relationship with another has-been Swedish bimbo or even an Italian transvestite. No-one else should care either. In fact, we have no reason to know it. Likewise with an effeminate footballer having a fumble with his personal assistant (lesbian, bisexual or otherwise).

There is too much poking our noses into where other people are poking other bodily parts these days - all due to some journalistic hacks pickled in alcohol, high on Peruvian rocks and probably other things desperate to make their deadline for the next edition of the low grade toilet paper that they call the Sun or the Star or the Daily Mirror or the Daily Mailicious or the - - or the - - - . My contempt for such publications is so low that I wouldn't even consider wiping my backside with them in case of catching something undesirable.

It's not the behaviour of your manager or your gutter press that surprises me. It's the mentality of your FA. :D

Bats of a feather - they're all as bad as, and influenced by, each other.

As a dedicated BOF I have to say that I would prefer an English manager heading the England team.

British football is now a commercial industry and not a sport. All too often it cannot even be categorised as entertainment. There are too many foreign players in the British leagues for us to develop good home grown players which leads me to conclude that we are unlikely to win anything - so we might just as well lose with a 100% English team headed by an English born manager on a more realistic wage.

MARK PALIOS tonight resigned as chief executive of the Football Association.

The Sun

Palios informed FA chairman Geoff Thompson of his decision at 6pm, and it was accepted with immediate effect.

The Guardian

So they all rode a bike ...... ? odd that the fall out is resulting in job losses

The News of the World reported that the FA offered to give the paper full details of Eriksson's affair in exchange for leaving chief executive Mark Palios out of the story.
The claims put some of the FA's most senior figures under fresh pressure, with communications director Colin Gibson now in the eye of the storm.
The News of the World reported that he tried to strike a deal with the paper, promising "chapter and verse" on Eriksson's affair with secretary Faria Alam.
Mr Gibson made the offer in an unsuccessful bid to keep Ms Alam's relationship with Mr Palios out of the news, the paper said.
The alleged telephone calls from Mr Gibson to the News of the World were recorded by the paper and published.
Mr Gibson appeared to confirm his conversations with the newspaper with a statement he issued this morning.
He said: "Last week I complied with the FA enquiry, gave them complete details of the events of July 24, including transcripts of telephone calls, my minute-to-minute movements and supplied them with a complete list of all my telephone calls.

"The FA knew about the details last week and the story about brokering a deal."

1. A woman's honour is more important than any FA witch-hunt so it doesn't matter if he lied or not.

2. England actually beat the Portuguese, without Rooney, so SGE didn't do so badly after all. No-one can factor in a bent ref.

3. You got me there. :D

She never pulled Brooking.  :D

How do you know? Looks like she's had everyone else.

I still maintain that this is all vicious muck-raking.

As I said above, sexual relationships between consenting adults is not an offence, whatever combinations of sexes are involved. It is only the red top newspapers and gossip magazines/colour supplements that consider that it is and consequently spend loads of cash entrapping people into situations that will titillate and entertain their readership.

In a civilised society where sex has its rightful place and is not considered dirty and never to be discussed in polite company, all of this faeces shovelling would not occur because no-one would be interested in the goings on between two, or multiples therof, people whether they be in an expensive property in Soho square or in a cardboard box in the East End.

If punters didn't buy all of this rubbish, it would quietly go away. Max Clifford would be (thankfully) out of a job and perhaps the newspapers would do what they are supposed to do from their name and carry news - news of some importance to our being and existence.

To use one of Elizabeth I sayings, "A pox on the lot of them."

I don't disagree with that. He played Heskey for so many games that it broke my heart. However, and I'm sorry to raise it again, the ref. was clearly shown on tv as indicating that he disallowed the goal for 'pushing', not holding down the goalie. Anyway, the goalie was in no position to jump, Terry's arm being some way above his shoulder or not. Home decision. Bent ref. Not Sven's fault.

Edit; Of course, non of this detracts from the fact that he's single, white and over twenty-one. He can roger whoever he likes . :D

If only the gutterpress took as much trouble investigating the sexual antics of the  Royal Family.

If that happened, then hopefully one day we would get them to resign.

The whole lot of them, from the Queen on down.

They do. Everyone has heard of some unsavoury goings on amongst the royals and some of us may have even seen the photographs. Occasionally some of it slips out. Remember the stories about old Charlie boy last year with his footman* or something.

There is a huge, huge file on the royals just waiting to be published. The problem the journos have is that they are scared of being done for treason.

Nevertheless, none of this is anything to do with us. I doesn't influence our lives one little bit except that some may be tempted to buy and read things that are nothing to do with them.

*not sure about the spelling of that word. Could be the second, third and fourth letters are wrong.

The sooner that lot go and live in a council house with the neighbours from hell, the better
