You will need at least hardware to convert analogue (your film) to digital (for the DVD)What are your films on now? Videotape? Are these commercial films? If yes then, ignoring any copyright issues, many have Macrovision copy protection now which makes copying less easy.What setup do you have? What operating system?If you accept that doing this for free is well nigh impossible, how much money are you prepared to spend to do it? There is lots of code necessary for the DVD player to interpret what, how, when and all that sort of thing. Tony Posted September 27, 2004 Report Share Posted September 27, 2004 HiThe software i use is called DVD Santa. Just tell it where the file is and click go it will do the rest. It produces proper DVDs with VOB file it even puts chapters in there for you. It is not the best looking of interfaces but who cares when it does the job. It cost $ 29.00 but the demo is unlimited, it just places a banner on the out put file which you will see on the TV as you watch it (yer i thought, i don't like the sound of that either) but i gave it a go anyway. BUT my TV at least, seems top crop the banner off, it must be some thing to do with the way the TV fills the screen or it is a problem the software writers don't know about, maybe the banner is always there with the NTSC system and not the PAL system. It takes about 5 hours with my system to convert the file to DVD format (my system is a 2.2 GHz AMD xp) The software will also burn the file to DVD for you with it's own burning software built in.
