Kirk Posted October 22, 2004 Report Share Posted October 22, 2004 yeah i read on another post in a different forum site that you have to go to the folder on your os installation cd and install the backup utility. i have windows xp home with sp1. i found it and there was a readme file. so i read it and it says that the backup ut will not work on xp home. if thats so then why in the hairy heck did they even put it on there. does anyone know anything about this? can you use it or not with xp home? But you can find it and run it.Hidden deep in the recesses of the Windows XP Home Edition CD lies the actual installation program that you need to put the Backup Utility on your computer. Simply insert the XP CD, and run NTBACKUP.MSI (it might look like just "Ntbackup") program from the folder D:\Valueadd\msft\ntbackup where D: is the letter of your CD drive. This will launch the Windows Backup Utility Installation Wizard, which will install the utility automatically. When it is finished, click "Finish." It's that easy! Now you can click Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> Backup, and the Backup Utility will start.scourceHope this helps! Kirk Posted October 22, 2004 Author Report Share Posted October 22, 2004 thanks, i went ahead and installed it. right now i'm having the problem with ie giving me error on page especially and mostly on the netzero homepage. the only thing i havent tried yet is a reinstall of ie6. allready tried the reinstall of netzero and it still gives me the errors on certain pages of netzero but anywhere else i go i dont get them. trying to get some help from different places on this little problem. Kirk Posted October 22, 2004 Author Report Share Posted October 22, 2004 yeah, as far as the page error problem it apparently fixed itself. after the ie6 crash. i rebooted and reloggedon and this time no problems with errors or ie6 crashing. beats the heck outta me what happened. freak thing i guess.
