making windows connect to internet automatically

Hello guys, any of you know any app to make windows automatically connect to Broadband Internet Connection at startup/logon

im not at all sure about this, cause i dont know a thing about bb. i have dialup. butpossibly---, maybe does the broadband have any options in it anyplace to run at startup? if maybe, setting it to run at su will work. im just throwing out a bone here, cuz i have no clue bout bb.

What o/s are you running and what sort of bb do you have? Cable or ADSL?

I have cable BB and it is always on as long as I do not switch my modem off.

As soon as I boot my computer the connection is there to be used.

I'm not sure if you're saying you want your broadband connection to start, or if you want Internet Explorer (or better yet Mozilla Firefox) (your browser) to start.

Your broadband connection should happen automatically unless you're using something like AOL Broaband (which I REALLY don't like anyway).

If you want your browser to start automatically, just put it in the Startup folder on your Start Menu. Let me know if you need help with that.

If you have a DSL line and a modem that's not PPPoE capable, you'll need to ahve some kind of PPPoE software on your computer. That is, unless you run WinXP, which comes with PPPoE connectivity built-in

You can put a shortcut in your Startup folder, but you'll still have to click connect

my advice: get a router and configure it for PPPoE, or a real modem such as the Westell model 2200, Westell Versalink, or Homeportal HP1000

Don't know if this will work as I run cable but I have just run a trial with it and it tries to connect. Create a scheduled task in control panel and browse to 'C:\WINDOWS\system32>rasdial.exe' (it might only say 'rasdial' double click it and tick the 'when my computer starts' box.

You might have to drag IE (or whatever browser you use) to the start up folder.

The above will not work with cable.

Just had a play and you could create a batch fie and either assign it a scheduled task or shove it in the startup folder. It would contain these lines....

rasdial.exe <entryname> [username [password |*]] [/domain:domain] [/phone:phonenumber] [/callback:callbacknumber]

You would have to fill in the information.

I have BT broadband. Originally I used the Alcatel USB frog modem and with this I had to go through a sort of connection procedure similar to dial-up to get on to the Internet.

I changed to using a Netgear Ethernet modem and now I am connected as soon as the computer boots up. This modem also has a USB connector and, although I can't remember fully, I think that when I used this USB connection on another machine, that also connected immediately on bootup without any intervention from me.

All I have to do is click on the browser I want to use (Firefox normally) and it is there ready and waiting.
