The bake will include a dozen clams, 1/2 of a chicken, a cob of corn, a yam, a cup of clam chowder, clam broth and cole slaw. Each bake costs us $14. Extra clams (a dozen) cost $5.We will have a total of 9 adults attending. Beer, wine and deserts will be provided.So I was thinking of ordering 8 bakes with an additional 5 orders of clams as 2 adults dont want clams but 5 want 2 dozen. With this order for 9 adults, that will leave us with 3 1/2 full chickens :o , 13 dozen clams, 8 sweet potatos, 8 corn on the cobs and 9 cole slaws. More then 1/3rd of a chicken. clams as they requested 0, 1 or 2 dozen, 1 sweet potato, 1 corn, 1 cole slaw each (basically). 1 person - 1/3 chicken, 1 dozen clams, 1 corn, 1 potato, 1 coleslaw. -pops- Posted November 1, 2004 Report Share Posted November 1, 2004 I have some wonderful memories of eating Steamers (clams), lobsters, soft shell crabs and all sorts of seafood in the New England.Not sure if Steamers are common throughout the USA. They are large clams, cooked on a griddle until the gape open. Soft shell crabs are getting towards the nicest things I've ever eaten. Clams, chicken, (sometimes shellfish such as lobster or crab), cor, celery, onions and yams are strategically placed in a large pot with some water. Things are takenout or put in as the pot steams away.The broth produced by the bake is pretty good.Generally a fall tradition and always a feast.BTW: Sorry but I may have hit the report button when replying.
