trackrat
I tried to defragment my external hard drive and it gets to 3% and freezes and the program just locks up.Anyone got any thoughts on this.Is their a free program that is better than the XP defragmenter?. -pops-
I use Diskeeper now. Never gives any trouble and I do use it on external HDDs.http://www.executive.com/coverpage.asp
trackrat
Thanks pops I am just trying the trialware version.I have used it on all my drives and it is a lot faster than the XP defragger. One question though, I have noticed know that when I click on defrag from the drives properties box the xp defrag is not available as it seems Diskeeper has taken over, what happens when the 15 day trial runs out. mark2
After trialling Diskkeeper on 1 system it successfully uninstalled and allowed me to return to the normal XP defragger.I use Dirms and Buzzsaw instead http://www.dirms.com/HTH
