-pops- Posted December 19, 2004 Report Share Posted December 19, 2004 I started up my small machine this morning and was greeted during boot up by a DOS style message saying: "Keyboard Locked"Underneath was another message saying"Press F1 to continue. Del to enter Setup"Now, I don't think I'm missing anything here but if the keyboard is locked and thus inaccessible, pressing any key at all is doomed to failure, isn't it? It did prove to be so and nothing could be done.I restarted and everything was OK but I am left mystified by the rather stupid messages that are given when things don't work quite right. -pops- Posted December 20, 2004 Author Report Share Posted December 20, 2004 I think it was just "one of those things".It worked fine on a restart.BTW it's an M$ wireless keyboard and mouse - very happy with them.I wasn't worried about the thing not working, just the totally stupid message telling me to press F1 or Del. -pops- Posted December 20, 2004 Author Report Share Posted December 20, 2004 Wireless keyboards are known to have problems during start up as they require windows to be running to work.I appreciate that a wireless keyboard cannot be used until Windows boots up, which makes the message doubly foolish, but I understood that the Tx/Rx gizmo fooled the BIOS into thinking a keyboard and mouse were present to allow bootup even before Windows was in operation.Anyway, it only happened the once and everything runs AOK :) Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
