Update to Sun Java

I logged on my work computer this morning and noticed SunJava had an update. There was an icon in the taskbar and a baloon poped up telling me to update.

I suggest everyone makes sure they have the latest.

I had this message probably more than a week ago. Is your computer running slow?

How long have you had your Java installation?

I just tried the update facility and received:

Congratulations!

You already have the most up-to-date version of the Java™ platform.

It is the latest, most secure, and fastest performing version of the Java platform available.

It is version 1.4.1_07

Unlike andsome, I have not updated my version since building this machine in May this year.

Odd :(

No, I'm just not here every day.

My version is 1.4.2_06. I was on 1.41.2_04 before the update

Ahem... I have 3 jobs. This also explains the lack of my presence over the past few months.

Oooo-errrr

It's still congratulating me and telling me that I'm up to date :(

Even from your link, SCM, its telling me the same.

Try this one

http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/download.html

Scroll to "J2SE v 1.4.2_06 JRE" and download that one.

or http://javashoplm.sun.com/ECom/docs/Welcom...sactionId=noreg if it works.... Nope. Have to click it yourself.

I don't think I'll bother.

The links are to Java developers pages. Not interested, I'm afraid. I just want the Java that Joe public would have - and which I have already.

Yes, at one time I would have been up there in the forefront of developers but I am of an age now where I just want an easy life. I'm sure when the time is right my Java installation will update. It certainly isn't on the top of my list of most used programs. :)
