tobes Posted December 23, 2004 Report Share Posted December 23, 2004 Hi, Im having problems with Windows Media Player 10. When i try and run it i get the "Thanks for installing...Fill in some preferences..." Window. I do all this and then press finish and it sends me straight back to the start of it all. A quick restart of the PC solves this but then it starts to happen again and again. I think that some of the files in the media player folder have been deleted. (using Your Uninstaller 2004) I cant wipe the rest of the folder out and start from scratch becasue it says that the files are in use. Any ideas? Thanks for the help. Scarecrow Man Posted December 23, 2004 Report Share Posted December 23, 2004 Can you un-install and re-install it? You mentioned Uninstaller 2004 which may have removed some needed files. tobes Posted December 23, 2004 Author Report Share Posted December 23, 2004 You cant physically uninstall windows programs as far as i am aware. By unticking it on remove windows programs you are simply removing its icon from various places. Many M$ programs do have a built -in repair option.Even if not, it would be worthwhile installing over the top of itself a scuzzman says. I don't generally use my machines as entertainment centres so my requirement for any multimedia software is minimal.When I'm video processing, I use the facilities offered by independent software such as Pinnacle Studio, WinDVD, NorthQ or Adobe Encore.P.S. But, the open-source project mplayer (This is a movie player, NOT a media player - it's much too big for music etc...) does have a windows port - might be worth a look.
