andsome Posted January 4, 2005 Report Share Posted January 4, 2005 Just finished making a birthday card on my computer for a friend. At one stage I had a message that I have not seen in ages. I had just pasted in some clip art when the message was, that the picture may not display correctly because there was insufficient memory, and that I should close down some programs and try again. In fact the picture did display correctly and I added more pictures with no problem before printing the card. I know that there is something I can alter to stop this happening again, can anyone recall what please? I have 1024 DDR memory. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

andsome Posted January 5, 2005 Author Report Share Posted January 5, 2005 Everything is absolutely normal. This was a one off, and I did actually finish the card in question. CPU usage is averaging 0% to 3% over a period of a couple of minutes. I don't really want to bother people with a HJT log if I can help it, as the computer is running like lightning other than this one blip. I was under the impression that an adjustment could be made to keep available memory for such programs as this to a maximum. All scans are completely clear. I was only trying to open a blank, new document. I found that the default canvas size had been set to some astronomical number. I set it to a normal size, and it opened fine.Any chance there's a similar situation with your software? I did once read that the answer to problems such as this can be found by changing a setting allowing more memory for specific programs.I answer to homecomputeraid, I don't know whether or not this program would open in another program. I certainly haven't been able to even see it in other programs, I don't think Publisher programs will open in anything but Publisher. This is the first time that this has happened on this computer, although it happened regularly in Windows 98SE on my old machine. I did as stated finish the card with no problem, and all the clipart displayed and printed correctly. I have since, as an experiment, opened the card again in publisher and added a whole load more clipart, and even photographs with no problem.
