scuzzman
Microsoft Corp. yesterday released three software updates to fix security holes in its Windows operating system, including one that can affect machines equipped with a massive security upgrade the company released five months ago. The three patches, available at windowsupdate.microsoft.com, mend four software holes. Two of the patches earned a "critical" rating from Microsoft, its most serious. The software giant said attackers could exploit three of the flaws merely by persuading users to open a specially crafted e-mail or to visit a Web site that distributes malicious code.Original story hereThe odd thing is, the multiple-vulnerability fix is still lacking an Internet Explorer fix:Just days after a researchers raised the threat level because an IE exploit was making the rounds, Microsoft rolled out a patch that lessens the danger. But officials admit that a comprehensive browser fix is not yet ready."We're still working on the IE update," said Stephen Toulouse, program manager at the Microsoft Security Response Center. "As soon as we're satisfied with the quality of the patch, we'll release it."Story here.*EDIT: Fixed bad link, added followup

andsome
I also downloaded the latest Adaware plus the updates. The whole exercise seemed never ending. If there was ever any reason that I could no longer get BB, I think I would give up the INTERNET. I also wanted to send a couple of attachments from her laptop to my computer, they took several minutes to send. I downloaded 67 e-mails including these 2 this morning. The whole exercise took just seconds.

ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
Can someone please close this thread, as it discusses patches released in January.I don't think it's a good idea to bump up old security threads, as this can easily confuse some users. (I went to search for these updates, until I recognized the security bulletin numbers as being old).
